Will Ehrenfeld joined the staff of P-TECH after one year working in the Office of Postsecondary Readiness of the New York City Department of Education. In November 2010, a few days into his tenure at the DOE, he was assigned to work on what was then called the "postsecondary partnership school," later named P-TECH. Will followed the school's development through the end of his time in central office, working closely with all partners on the steering committee. In August 2011, Will was hired as a community coordinator at P-TECH, serving in that role for the school's first year. After two years teaching social studies, he joined IBM as the company's liaison to the school at the start of the 2014-15 school year. After two years at IBM, Will returned to the classroom to serve students and families.

In addition to teaching social studies and coaching soccer, he has also served as the boys indoor track coach, chair of the School Leadership Team and adviser to the Student Council. At IBM, Will was responsible for managing a mentoring program, internships, site visits and the full range of career readiness experiences available to students. Derived from experience in politics--including the primary campaign of President Obama--Will believes deeply in democracy and shared decision-making. This means that if you have a good idea, we want to hear from you! Your voice matters, and parents and students especially need to have a role in shaping this school.

"You wouldn't ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals. On the contrary, we would all celebrate its tenacity. We would all love its will to reach the sun. Well, we are the rose--this is the concrete--and these are my damaged petals. Don't ask me why...ask me how!"
